Sebastián is the new Project Manager – Cacao Forest coordinator in Dominican Republic.

We asked him to present himself:

I am an Agricultural and industrial engineer, with postgraduate studies in Climate change and environmental negotiations. I have thirteen years of professional experience focused on environmental and climate change programs in international, regional and local arenas. My past experience has been on projects supporting rights and development with indigenous communities; advisory, monitoring and evaluation on agriculture and industries good practice and sustainability; assessment and implementation of development projects; as well as expertise on gender mainstreaming. My work included both field implementation and public policy advocacy at national/international levels.

The three last years of my career I have been able to deepen my knowledge and learning in sustainability of palm and cocoa value chains in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Cacao Forest Project is a great opportunity to generate positive transformation on rural areas, directly on the base with cocoa farmers, creating economical, productive and environmental resilience. Cacao Forest is the opportunity to bring together strategic actors from all de value chain, Industry, government, farmers and civil society working with the same goals.

My personal purpose is contribute with experience and sincere interest to catch different voices and ideas  to improve the results of the project, is a challenge to keep the balance on a big network like this, specially to incentive a collective develop of the initiative, but challenges are seeds for transformation.
